MID-NORFOLK POOL LEAGUE (MNPL)
Official Rulebook – MONDAY (EPA Affiliated) & THURSDAY LEAGUES
1. PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
Registration
- Players are automatically registered upon playing their first match for a team.
Team Eligibility
- A player may only be registered to one team at a time.
- Players may only represent one team unless officially transferred.
Transfers
- Transfers must be approved by the League Secretary.
- A £5 transfer fee applies before the halfway point of the season.
- A £10 transfer fee applies after the halfway point of the season.
- No player transfers are permitted within the final 4 league matches of the season.
Cup Eligibility
To play in knockout fixtures, a player must:
- Have played at least 2 league matches before knockout stages begin.
- Have played at least 1 group stage cup match.
- A player may only represent one team in any cup competition during a season.
- Once a player has played in a cup match for a team, they are cup-tied to that team.
- A cup-tied player may not play for another team in the same competition.
- Any breach will result in the forfeiture of all frames played.
Minimum Players
- Teams are expected to field a minimum of 4 players.
- A team may play with 3 players if the opposing captain is notified by 12:00 midday on match day.
2. MATCH STRUCTURE
Match Format
Match formats vary depending on the league and season:
Monday League (Summer):
- Matches consist of 12 frames.
- Format: 8 singles and 4 scotch doubles.
Thursday League (Summer):
- Matches consist of 10 frames.
- Format: singles and standard doubles.
Doubles Format
- Scotch doubles (Monday): Players alternate shots within a frame.
- Standard doubles (Thursday): Players take full visits at the table.
Match Start Time
- Matches start at 8:00 PM, with a 15-minute grace period.
- After 15 minutes, 1 frame will be conceded.
Match Continuity
- Matches must be played continuously without unnecessary delays.
- A maximum 5-minute break may be taken if agreed by both captains.
Refereeing
- Refereeing is compulsory.
- The home team must provide a referee.
- The referee is responsible for setting up (racking) the balls before each frame.
Advice / Coaching
- Coaching from inactive players is not permitted.
- A breach will result in a warning.
3. RESULTS & PENALTIES
Cancellations
- Matches start at 8:00 PM.
- Cancellations must be made by 12:00 midday on the day of the match by contacting the opposing captain.
- Late cancellations will result in an 8–0 loss and a penalty.
League Standings (Tiebreakers)
- If two or more teams are tied on points, positions will be determined based on the combined head-to-head results between the tied teams.
4. TEAM WITHDRAWAL
- If a team withdraws during the first half of the season, all results will be removed.
- If a team withdraws during the second half, only second-half results will be removed.
- The team will be replaced with a [BYE].
5. LEAGUE QUALIFICATION
- The top team and runner-up will qualify for the Champion of Champions.
- If a team is unable to attend, a replacement will be decided by the committee.
6. GENERAL
- All matches are played to EPA International Rules, unless otherwise stated.
